Family Nest AshkelonIntegration of mothers of children with special needs

The project provides parental counselling of mothers for the improvement of home communication, the rehabilitation of family life and the support of children with special needs. It also includes volunteer training for support of mothers caring for children with special needs.

The New Yeruham Fund – Women of the Golden Age

The project seeks to build a bridge between young women and girls and elderly women, which is intended to relieve their isolation by joint participation in social activities. The younger women will meet with and get to know the elderly women and will document their life stories. The project involves two main components: a monthly socio-cultural group meeting around breakfast and joint experiential activities and personal visits, holiday celebrations and phone meetings.

KesherSpecial Mothers, Special Power (mother to mother)

A mother-to-mother course in which experienced mothers of special needs children are trained to mentor new mothers. Following the arrival of a family member with special needs, mothers face a radical life change (emotional, physical and health challenges which effect mainly the mothers, but also the family as a whole). The course is intended for a group of mothers dedicated to the cause and willing to offer their time and share their experiences with other mothers. The purpose of the project is to create ties between mothers and offer them enrichment activities on issues that concern them such as effect on siblings, rights of all family members, working mothers and more.

Yachdav Association – Grandma Selfie

The project seeks to empower grandmothers of children with special needs, using the lens to deepen their experience from various angles. The project also involves an intergenerational work group of mothers and grandmothers and the creation of a pool of grandmother volunteers active in early childhood frameworks within the city. The project takes place in Yeruham.

The Rotem Center “Integration”

The project is intended for young women with physical or mental disabilities between the ages of 17-35 who have a hard time integrating into common frameworks such as educational institutions, work places, entertainment venues and more. “Integration” opens the doors of the Sapir Academic College to these women and makes it possible for them to take part in different programs offered by the college, while being accompanied on a personal level in order to answer to the needs that arise along the way. The project takes place in Sderot.

 

MaslanIntervention Program for the Elderly

The project raises social awareness on the issue of violence and sexual abuse towards elderly women by disclosing information and exposing coping approaches to the phenomenon and to its long term impacts on our elders. The project consists of a course intended for professionals working with the elderly in community centers, retirement homes, independent living homes and geriatric facilities, in which they receive information on prevention and identification of abuse and sexual violence towards elders. The project takes place in the Negev.

Jewish AgencyEmpowering Immigrant Women in Absorption Centers

The project uses traditional embroidery and weaving in order to advance the social and economic independence of older new immigrant women from Ethiopia who live in absorption centers. In the framework of a course the women develop their embroidery and weaving skills, learn new techniques and acquire experience, knowledge and tools that in turn help them channel their skills towards an honorable and stable income. The course also provides them with a social support framework and a space for personal expression in which the women are empowered into successful integration in Israeli society. The course takes place in the absorption center in Beer Sheva.

Jewish AgencyChoosing Tomorrow Forever

The project connects between students and Shoah survivors in their homes in personal weekly meetings. In the course of the meetings, the students help the survivors to obtain their rights and benefits and engage with them in different activities. In addition, group activities take place in the community centers across the city. The students receive training, counselling and personal mentoring. The project takes place in Beer Sheva.

Jewish AgencyAlma – Pre-military preparatory program for the advancement of women’s leadership

The project, the first of its kind, was established in order to provide young women from the socio-economic periphery who show high leadership potential to grow, advance and contribute to the State of Israel. The participants go through an exciting transformational process of discovery of their own personal abilities, decision-making capabilities and the possibility to advance in society. At the end of the program, the participants join the Israeli army in positions that enable learning and the leading of others, which prepares them to enter Israeli society with important life skills. As part of the program, the young women volunteer with elderly women in the area. The project takes place in Jerusalem.
