Lion of Judah Israel Celebrates 30 Years in a special event on Women's Philanthropy
Lion of Judah Israel marked its 30th anniversary of impactful activity with a celebratory conference on Israeli women’s philanthropy-the first event of its kind organized by the Lion of Judah Foundation.
Prof. Michal Bar-Almog from the Hebrew University revealed a striking statistic: over 7,000 new nonprofits have emerged in Israel since October 7. She addressed an audience of more than 100 representatives from nonprofits, academia, philanthropic foundations, and corporations, noting the growing financial power and influence held by women.
This conference launches a series of events honoring 30 years of the Lion of Judah Foundation, uniting 160 prominent Israeli women philanthropists. Prof. Bar-Almog further shared that 2024 donations to Israeli social organizations surged to an estimated 22 billion shekels post-October 7, yet only one shekel per 100 reaches programs for women and girls.
Sarah Oren, Chair of Lion of Judah, underscored the vital role of women philanthropists supporting women, announcing that the foundation has contributed about 18 million shekels over three decades, enhancing the welfare of over 5,000 women.
Yehuda Stone, CEO of the Jewish Agency, commended the group not just for donations but for inspiring the women they aid through exemplary leadership.
In the hall, a photography exhibition of the Eden Project, “Women Photograph War,” was on display. Lion of Judah has been supporting the Eden Project for four years.
